The French branch will be known as Everest Insurance (Ireland), DAC France Branch, while the German contingent will be known as Everest Insurance (Ireland) DAC, Niederlassung für Deutschland. The company also said that it is planning to open later this year a branch in Madrid, Spain.

The newly established branches are led by Anne Charon, head of France, and Bernd Wiemann, head of Germany. Each branch will deliver local expertise and customised risk solutions to their respective markets, directly addressing the region’s unique market dynamics. The Paris office will service key sectors including property, casualty, energy and construction, professional lines/indemnity, cyber, accident and health, credit and surety, and financial lines. The Düsseldorf office will service key sectors including commercial property, casualty, and financial lines of business.

Mike Karmilowicz, president and CEO of Everest Insurance, said: “Our international expansion is driven by an intentional focus to continue to diversify our business and grow in a robust global market with tremendous need and potential. While clients and brokers face challenging and new emerging risks, Everest Insurance is bringing a new commitment to the European market. Backed by the full strength and capital of Everest, we are well-positioned to deliver our customer-first model to these key markets, providing clients with access to first-class industry talent and the customised risk solutions they need.”

According to her LinkedIn profile, Charon has been in her role as head of France since June this year, having worked in several senior roles. Her work history includes a stint as CEO for France for Zurich Insurance Company and she was also the general manager for France for RSA for nearly five years. She has also held roles at Generali and Chubb.

Wiemann’s LinkedIn profile indicates that he has been with Everest since May, before moving to his new position last month. He has also held a number of senior roles at Berkley Deutschland, WR Berkley Europe, and Chubb Europe. His most-recent role at Chubb was between May 2014 and May 2017, where he was sales and marketing manager for continental Europe.

The European expansion of Everest’s primary insurance operations follows its recent entrance into the Latin American and Asia-Pacific markets, and continues the advancement of its international expansion strategy. As we reported in May, the Latin-American office is in Santiago, Chile, and is led by Pablo Korze, senior vice president and regional president of Latin America at Everest Insurance. Meanwhile, the firm’s Asia-Pacific office is based in Singapore and is led by Ben Carey, senior vice president and regional head of insurance.
