Everest Insurance, the insurance division of Bermuda-based re/insurer Everest Group, Ltd., has announced the appointment of Stephen Buonpane as Senior Vice President (SVP) of Casualty Specialty Lines and Industry Practices.
In this newly created role, Buonpane will report to Bill Hazelton, Head of Retail Casualty and Industry Practices at Everest Insurance North America.
Buonpane will lead the expansion of Everest’s Casualty Specialty Lines, including Energy, Life Sciences, and Environmental sectors, and further develop the company’s Industry Practices group. This aligns with Everest’s strategy to diversify its industry expertise and enhance broker and client experiences across various risk management products.
Hazelton commented, “I have known Stephen for many years, and he has long been a respected authority in specialised risk management.”
He continued, “Having grown a successful tech-enabled MGU that pioneered innovative insurance products and digital solutions for commercial construction clients, he understands the dynamics and expectations of complex and highly specialised businesses.”

With over 20 years of experience, Buonpane brings expertise in casualty insurance, industry practice development, and cross-selling strategies to his new role.
Buonpane joins Everest from Shepherd, where he served as Chief Insurance Officer for three years. He has also worked at leading global insurers including Chubb, AIG, and ACE.
