The insurance division of Everest Group, Ltd., Everest Insurance, has announced the appointment of Melissa McDermott as Global Chief Actuary, effective immediately.
McDermott joins Everest Insurance’s experienced leadership team of global executives. She will report directly to Mike Karmilowicz, President and CEO of Everest Insurance.
McDermott is a market veteran with 30 years of experience in overseeing global teams and actuarial strategies across the property and casualty industry. She will partner with the actuarial, underwriting, and claims teams across the worldwide Insurance organization and Everest’s reserve teams.

McDermott’s career includes actuarial leadership roles for some of the world’s largest global insurance companies. Most recently, she served as the Chief Actuary for North America General Insurance at AIG where she led the pricing, reserving and portfolio management strategy for several lines of business.
Prior to that, McDermott was Head of Global Specialty, Insurance Pricing at AXA XL.
She also spent eight years at Travelers, where she held a variety of roles as part of the company’s actuarial and executive leadership rotational program.
