Everest Insurance has appointed Anne Charon, Bernd Wiemann, and José Ramón Morales to head the firm’s operations in France, Germany, and Spain.
The announcement, made on LinkedIn, said that the three appointments were subject to regulatory approval and are part of the firm’s plans to expand its market in Europe.
Vincent Vandendael, CEO of Everest Global Markets, wrote on LinkedIn: “Everest has long been a destination for the best industry talent, and I believe that the calibre of these appointments further demonstrates that reputation. All three have a proven track record building on deep technical grounding as underwriters to become recognised leaders in their markets with international carriers.”
After detailing the three’s background, Vandendael said that the firm was looking to establish itself where it is most needed.
He added: “We are investing in systems and infrastructure to enable that growth and we are investing in talent – the right people, with the right attitude, serving our customers, on the ground, with the local expertise and new and diversified offerings only we can deliver.”
According to Charon’s profile, she has been president of A2C Consulting in Paris since 2017. She also holds concurrent, similar roles at Club DRH Assurances and The Insurance Supper Club. Her previous experience includes being the French CEO of Zurich Insurance and a senior business advisor at Grant Thornton Executive.
Regarding Charon, Vandendael wrote: “Anne is a seasoned talent who has demonstrated her quality in senior leadership roles in the French market at RSA and Zurich and, for the last five years, has run her own specialist executive search firm focused entirely on the insurance sector.”
Wiemann, who is based in the Bonn and Cologne region in Germany, comes from WR Berkley Europe where he worked as both managing director and as sales and distribution manager. He has also worked in various sales roles with Chubb, based in Munich.
Vandendael wrote of Wiemann: “With a sales and distribution focus, Bernd brings over 30 years’ experience in the German market, having held increasingly senior marketing, sales and branch manager positions at Chubb and WR Berkley.”
Based in Madrid, Morales has most recently been the country leader for Spain and Portugal at AXA XL. Prior to that, he was at XL Catlin for nearly seven years during which time he was client and distribution leader, deputy country manager for Iberia, and country manager for the same region. He was also, between 2012 and 2014, the founder of IT firm Inspiring Benefits.
Regarding Morales, Vandendael said: “José Ramón’s is similarly international and multi-faceted, with the entrepreneurial expertise that comes from founding, growing and selling his own business, senior positions across commercial insurance and, most recently, leading AXA/XL.”
He concluded: “I look forward to being able to share further news on these appointments and on our specific plans for serving clients and brokers in the French, German and Spanish markets.”
