Everest Insurance International, a division of Bermuda-based insurer and reinsurer Everest Group, Ltd., has announced some key leadership appointments, including Véronique Brionne as Insurance Head of Europe, effective September 28th, 2023.
The company has also named Martyn Benson as Head of Operations, effective August 7th, 2023, and promoted Swee Keong Mah to Interim Regional Head of Insurance in Asia, replacing Ben Carey, who has returned to Chubb.
Both Brionne and Benson will report to Adam Clifford, co-lead of Everest Insurance International, and will serve as members of the division’s international leadership group.
Brionne is an industry veteran with 25 years of deep local market expertise. At Everest she will be based in Paris, and her remit will include driving the ongoing growth and success of the company’s insurance offering in Continental Europe.
Most recently, Brionne served as the Deputy Managing Director for Chubb European Group SE and as the Country President for its operations in France. Additionally, she was Director of Accident & Health in Continental Europe, and prior to this, served as Country President for operations in Spain and Portugal.
Earlier in her career, she has held roles of increasing responsibility at global insurer AXA, including international Actuarial Analyst and P&C Program Director of the Northern, Central and Eastern Europe region.

Benson brings to Everest Insurance extensive experience leading global operations at major financial services entities. At Everest, he will be based in London, tasked with overseeing the firm’s insurance operations across all regions of its international business, including underwriting processes, policyholder servicing, and portfolio and project management.
Most recently, he served as the Chief Operations Officer for Consumer Lines EMEA at Chubb, as well as the Head of Operations for Asia Pacific. Earlier in his career, Benson spent nearly a decade at re/insurance broker WTW, including roles as Chief Operating Officer of Asia Pacific, Global Wealth Solutions and Europe.

His deep industry acumen and diverse skillset will benefit Everest as we continue to bring our best-in-class insurance offering to more clients around the world,” said Clifford.
The promotion of Mah to Interim Regional Head of Insurance, Asia, is effective immediately. In addition to this new role, Mah will continue to retain his position as Head of Legal, Asia Pacific, which he assumed in early 2022 when joining the company.
