Everest Re Group Ltd. has appointed Shawn Austin as Senior Vice President, Head of Accident and Health for North America, effective October 24, 2022.
Within this role, Austin will be based in New York where he will report directly to Everest Group COO and Head of Reinsurance – Jim Williamson.
Austin will succeed Everest Reinsurance veteran Lou Monteagudo, who will be retiring in December after 26 years of service with the company.
Austin brings 25 years of industry experience towards the role. Within the role, he will lead strategy development and execution for Accident and Health in North America.
Additionally, he will also hold responsibility for expanding the company’s products and services within the accident and health market.
Prior to joining Everest, Austin served as Head of AIG’s North American Accident and Health business where he oversaw the entire portfolio.
Over the course of his career within the industry, Austin has served in various leadership roles of increasing responsibility, including senior positions at Liberty Mutual, most recently serving as Senior Vice president leading the distribution and marketing of the company’s start-up global Accident and Health business.
