Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited has appointed John Varnell, Vice President, Corporate Development, to serve as interim Chief Financial Officer (CFO) following the sudden death of Vice President and CFO, David Bonham, this past weekend.
Fairfax Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Prem Watsa, commented: “The entire Fairfax family mourns the sudden and unexpected loss of our dear friend and partner, Dave Bonham.
“Dave was incredibly bright and disciplined as our CFO, and we will all miss his sense of humour, quick wit and caring nature. We extend our deepest sympathies to Dave’s family.”
Interim CFO Varnell has previously served as Fairfax CFO on two occasions, and has also served as CFO of Northbridge Financial Corporation and Fairfax India Holdings Corporation.
