DOXA, a US-based managing general underwriter (MGU) platform, has announced the formation of DOXA Re, a specialty property reinsurance MGU focused on quota share and related proportional solutions for traditional insurers, hybrid carriers and managing general agents (MGAs).

DOXA logo“DOXA Re addresses a growing need for specialty underwriting expertise in the quota share reinsurance marketplace. As MGA and hybrid-carrier programs expand, property placements are becoming more complex, yet access to reinsurers with both the expertise and appetite to participate remains limited,” says DOXA’s chief product and underwriting officer, Joe Guerrero.

Adding: “DOXA Re brings together experienced underwriting, analytics and DOXA’s operational resources to move quickly and thoughtfully to meet the needs of carriers and MGAs.”

James Femia will lead DOXA Re as President, bringing 22 years of property reinsurance underwriting and leadership experience to the position.

Over the course of his career, Femia has built strong partnerships with brokers, cedents, MGAs, and capital markets players while overseeing diverse quota share portfolios.

Under Femia’s leadership, DOXA Re is to establish a balanced portfolio spanning multiple risk classes, product lines, geographic regions, and client segments.

Combining delegated underwriting authority with workflows that support timely reviews and clear communication, DOXA Re aims to provide clients and brokers with continuity from initial review through binding.

Backed by DOXA’s robust operational infrastructure, the MGU will expand its team by recruiting top-tier underwriting and analytics talent committed to rigorous pricing, disciplined risk selection, and thoughtful treaty design.

Femia commented: “Our approach reflects what I call ‘Working Property’: putting capital to work alongside cedents and collaborating with brokers and capacity providers so everyone at the table shares the success.

“We want to be the first call because we know how to navigate risk, capitalize on opportunity and do what we say we will do. That is how we build lasting partnerships and a sustainable business.”
