As the merger between hedge fund-backed reinsurer Third Point Re and multi-line re/insurer Sirius Group nears completion, further executive and senior underwriting roles have been announced at SiriusPoint Ltd.
Expected to close on or about the 26th of February, subject to satisfaction of closing conditions, the planned merger received shareholder approval towards the end of November 2020.
Subsequently, Third Point Re made three senior hires in early February to strengthen its existing leadership team ahead of close, and has now announced further internal appointments to the SiriusPoint leadership team.
The latest appointments see Dan Malloy, current Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Third Point Re, become President, Global Distribution and Head of Runoff. In this role, Malloy takes on responsibility for distribution and business development, as well as broker and client engagement. He will have oversight of SiriusPoint’s runoff arm and will be based in Bermuda, subject to immigration approval.
David Govrin, currently President of Third Reinsurance (USA) Ltd. and Head of Business Development at Third Point Re, has been appointed as Global Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) and President, Americas Reinsurance at SiriusPoint, based in the U.S.
Additionally, Monica Cramér Manhem, currently President of Global Reinsurance at Sirius Group, has been made President, International Reinsurance. The firm explains that SiriusPoint International branch managers, including the European, Miami, and Singapore offices, will report to Cramér Manhem, who will be based in Stockholm.
Ming Zhang, the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of Third Point Re, has been appointed as the new CIO of SiriusPoint.
Last but not least, Vievette M. Henry is to join SiriusPoint on March 1st, 2021, from AIG in New York as its new Chief People Officer.
SiriusPoint executives will report to the firm’s Chairman and CEO, Sid Sankaran, who currently serves as Third Point Re’s non-executive Chairman of the Board.

As well as the leadership team, underwriting leaders at SiriusPoint have also been announced, including Jan Onselius as CUO for International Reinsurance; Nick Campbell as Global Head of Specialty and leader of SiriusPoint’s Bermuda operations; Patrick Chamberland as EVP International Reinsurance in addition to leading SiriusPoint’s office in Liege; Stuart Liddell as Global President of Accident and Health; Ian Sawyer as Global Head of Casualty; Warren Trace as Head of US and Canada; and as previously announced, Tim Mardon will become SiriusPoint Global Head of Property Reinsurance.
