Pan-Asian life insurance company FWD Group Holdings Limited has announced the hiring of former SiriusPoint CEO Sid Sankaran as Managing Director and Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
Sankaran will take on his new role at FWD Group from September 1st 2023, subject to regulatory approval, but joins the company as a Senior Advisor from June 1st 2023.

Sankaran will also become a member of the FWD Group Executive Committee and will report to Huynh Thanh Phong.

He succeeds Jon Nielsen, who as we reported last week will become the CFO designate of Great-West Lifeco Inc., effective September 5, 2023, and will assume the role of Chief Financial Officer in the first quarter of 2024.
Sankaran has extensive global insurance, reinsurance and finance leadership experience.
He currently serves on the Board of Directors at health insurance company Oscar Health and is currently acting as their Interim Chief Financial Officer.
Before that he was the Chairman and CEO of SiriusPoint from its launch in 2021 until May 2022, and had also been the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Third Point Reinsurance Ltd. during its acquisition of Sirius Group.
Previously, Sankaran worked from 2010 until 2018 at American International Group (AIG), first as Chief Risk Officer and later as Chief Financial Officer, prior to which he worked at Oliver Wyman Financial Services.
