Re/insurance broker Gallagher has named Huw Turner Partner, Renewable Energy as the firm expands the renewables team to meet increased client demand.
Turner will be reporting to executive partner Gavin Tidman, and will work closely with Gallagher’s head of renewables, Duncan Gordon.
Bringing 25 years of energy sector experience, he joins Gallagher from Price Forbes, where he was a director with responsibility for Africa, Latin America and Europe.
Turner commented: “I’m thrilled to be joining Gallagher’s renewables team. I was attracted to the role as the energy practice has a strong reputation for client excellence and market innovation. With Gallagher’s fast-growing portfolio of renewables customers my experience will be highly relevant.”
Prior to Price Forbes, he developed an insurance backed mitigation product for geothermal downhole exploration risks.
On the project development side, Turner worked on a variety of start-up, development and upstream ventures, primarily power and resource infrastructure projects in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Throughout his career, he has gained extensive knowledge of the power, environmental and associated regulatory sectors in the region.
He has previously worked for Sandpiper Power, InfraCo Africa, CKRe and Agil; additionally Turner also spent six years as an independent consultant offering business development, advisory and project management services in the renewable power sector.

The renewables team is part of Gallagher Speciality’s global energy, power and renewables practice which handles upstream, downstream, power and renewable energy risks for firms internationally and employs over 65 risk professionals.
