Gallagher Re Brazil appoints new CEO, Treaty Operations

Global reinsurance broker Gallagher Re has announced the appointment of Daniel Veiga as CEO of Gallagher Re Brazil, Treaty Operation, effective immediately. Veiga will be based in Rio de Janeiro and work closely connected to São Paulo.

gallagher-re-logoVeiga’s appointment is part of Gallagher Re Brazil’s growth plans and strategic investment in leadership.

Veiga will work alongside Gallagher Re Executive Vice President Fernando Tilger and in collaboration with Luiz Araripe, Country Head of Gallagher Brazil Retail and Facultative Reinsurance. He will report to Edson Wiggers, the CEO of Gallagher Re Latin America and Caribbean, who was overseeing the Brazil operation in collaboration with Tilger.

Additionally, they offer solid technical abilities, well-established client relationships and proven reinsurance expertise across all lines of business.

Veiga is an industry veteran with more than 18 years of reinsurance industry experience. Prior to this, he was at IRB Re Brazil where he served as the Chief Underwriting Officer for all IRB non-life lines of business since 2021.

Over the last 15 years, Veiga has held a number of underwriting and executive roles, leading the strategy and development of specialty risks from 2014 to 2021. He has a strong focus on agriculture, financial lines, surety and credit, marine and aviation.

Veiga’s hire within the Latin America & Caribbean division follows suit of Junaid Seria, who was hired in February to head up Catastrophe Analytics. Carlos Gonzalez and Harry Titherley, who joined as Vice President and Divisional Director, respectively, also joined in late 2022.
