Reinsurance brokerage Gallagher Re has promoted Mark Hansen, who has served as Chief Operating Officer (COO) for its North America division since 2021, as its new global COO, taking over from Chris Brook.
Hansen has served as COO for Gallagher Re North America since its acquisition of Willis Re.
He served at Willis Re North America for two decades, including as COO and Director of U.S. Operations. His career began with E.W. Blanch Co. in 1996.
Hansen’s role will be effective after a transition period with departing COO Brook.
He will be based in Minneapolis, Minn., and will report to Tom Wakefield, Gallagher Re Chief Executive Officer.
“Mark’s experience on the North American Executive Committee along with his exceptional leadership, insightful contributions and commitment to Gallagher Re make him an ideal candidate for this role,” said Wakefield.
“We are excited to have filled this position from our existing expertise and leadership,” he added.
