Global reinsurance broker Gallagher Re has announced the appointment of two new Executive Directors, Mathilde Le Merle and Juan Manuel Fernandez Romo.
Based in Paris, France, Le Merle joins the company with more than 20 years’ legal experience in the reinsurance and the broking industry, both in direct insurance and reinsurance.
She is a lawyer by profession and qualified at the Paris bar. Prior to joining Gallagher Re she served as Legal Counsel for Swiss Europe and as a Reinsurance Lawyer at Aon.
Thierry Myara, Managing Director of France, Belgium and Luxembourg at Gallagher Re, said: “Mathilde’s legal expertise, market knowledge, and extensive experience in balancing clients’ needs alongside reinsurance risk carrier constraints, will add a new dimension to our global service proposition for both life and non-life reinsurance clients.
Her appointment reflects Gallagher Re’s commitment to enhancing its services by adding the pragmatic and business-orientated value of market-specific legal insight to its teams, the broker highlighted.
Also in Paris, Juan Manuel Fernandez Romo is joining Le Merle as Executive Director. He will support new life, accident, and health mandates across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
An actuary by profession, with a proven track record in risk management, mergers & acquisitions and reinsurance, Fernandez Romo brings extensive industry experience and expertise.
His focus on client satisfaction and ability to navigate complex financial environments will be instrumental in supporting Gallagher Re’s existing and future clients as well as providing a valuable contribution to the team’s growth strategy, the company stated.
Fernandez Romo joins Gallagher Re from AXA where he held a number of positions through his 12 years with the company. He most recently served as a senior specialist within AXA’s corporate finance team, having previously worked in the inforce and structured reinsurance team and been head of economic capital for the Mediterranean and Latin America.
