GCube has appointed two people to senior positions within the organisation as part of its move to strengthen the company’s strategy.
Josh Shimali, who has been with the business for over a decade, has been promoted to Head of Onshore Underwriting.
He will take responsibility for planning and delivering on GCube’s overall underwriting strategy and ensure the company sustains a successful period of profitability through new and existing business.
Shimali has over a decade of experience in the renewables space, and his time at GCube has seen him build an intricate knowledge of the business and its client base.
Shimali commented: “The renewable energy insurance market is witnessing immense growth, with new entrants pouring in, vying for extra capacity and market share.
“Right now, however, it’s important that market leaders like GCube continue to provide stability to the market by understanding risk properly and sharing best practices with the wider market.
“This is the strategy that GCube has found success in, and this is the strategy I look forward to crafting and building upon in my new position.”
The renewable energy underwriter also hired Olly Litterick as Head of London Market Underwriting.
With close to 15 years of Underwriting and Brokerage experience, the new leader of the London division will help build on the company’s recent robust underwriting performance and global expansion, GCube noted.
Prior to joining GCube, Litterick was Director – Head of Low Carbon Energy at Occam Underwriting Limited; before that he served as Divisional Director at RKH Speciality, Renewable Energy Underwriter at Chaucer Syndicates.
Litterick said: “Over the last few years I’ve had the pleasure of watching GCube (from afar) build and consolidate its leading position in the renewable energy insurance market.
“This, coupled with the company’s exciting recent global expansion and significant, ongoing investment in its people, made the company an obvious choice for this next step.
“I’m very excited to join the company at this exciting time in the renewable energy insurance space, and I look forward to working with the rest of the specialised team to further consolidate GCube’s leading position in the market.”
The pair will be contributing to strategic planning and overall underwriting management as the company deploys new resources to build new relationships across the globe.
These latest moves, the company noted, coupled with recent hires across its claims and underwriting teams, will maintain the company’s strong leadership and firmly position it to capture new growth in the renewable energy market.
Fraser McLachlan, CEO, GCube, said: “Through investing in and hiring the best people in the industry we’ve established ourselves as a leading renewables underwriter, which prides itself on the extensive knowledge, experience, and integrity we bring to the market.
“Our two latest appointments will contribute to defining and building upon our strong underwriting strategy and help generate and sustain our profitable business model in current and future markets.
“We’re extremely excited to welcome Olly to the organisation and that Josh has elected to accept this new senior role within the business.”
