Gen Re, the global reinsurance subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, has announced the appointments of Charles Lawson as Head of North America P&C – Treaty and Erin Kang as Chief Underwriter – North America P&C Treaty.
In his newly created role, Lawson will oversee Gen Re’s three North America Property & Casualty Treaty divisions.
He joined Gen Re in 2007 as a Property Facultative Underwriter and has since held increasingly senior leadership roles. Most recently, he served as North American Treaty Leader – National & Multinational Segment since May 2022.
In her new role, Kang will be responsible for the company’s three treaty underwriting and actuarial teams.
She brings more than 25 years of insurance industry experience and has spent nearly seven years at Gen Re, most recently serving as Chief Underwriting Officer, Regional & Specialty and Mutual Practice.
Prior to joining Gen Re, Kang spent eight years at AIG, where she most recently served as Head Actuary, Excess Casualty & Reinsurance. Earlier in her career, she was VP & Actuary at Chubb.
