Gen Re, the global reinsurance subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, has announced that both Margaret McAuliffe and Alexander Zeller have been appointed to the Executive Board of General Reinsurance AG.
General Reinsurance AG is Gen Re’s German legal entity and the main risk carrier for its international business.
McAuliffe is General Reinsurance AG’s Chief Risk Officer, and she will continue to serve in that role, as well as serving as a member on its Executive Board. McAuliffe has worked for Gen Re for more than 30 years and throughout her tenure with the company she has held a variety of different management positions within the firm’s finance and risk management functions.
Mike O’Dea, Chief Financial Officer of Gen Re, commented: “Margaret has enjoyed a successful career in a variety of roles within our organization, most recently as Chief Risk Officer of General Reinsurance AG since 2013; she is well positioned to take on this responsibility at the Executive Board level as well.
“Her appointment reinforces the importance of the risk management discipline to our corporate governance framework.”
Additionally, Gen Re confirmed that Zeller will continue to be responsible for P&C Treaty clients located in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Israel, and Central-, Eastern- and South-eastern Europe. Previously, Zeller held various management positions in Gen Re’s European P&C Treaty organization.
