4th December 2019 - Author: Luke Gallin

Italian insurance giant Generali, via its Argentinian subsidiary La Caja, has entered into a new distribution agreement with large South American e-commerce operator, Mercado Libre.

generaliThe agreement sees Generali distribute motor and home policies through Mercado Libre’s digital portal, enabling Mercado Libre’s customers to be able to prepare quotes and underwrite La Caja motor and home policies by accessing the portal.

The latest initiative is another step in the partnership between Generali and Mercado Libre, which was established in 2011 and characterised by the development of innovative formats for customers.

According to an announcement on the agreement, the development of this solution augments the insurer’s other channels like mobile app, the website, direct phone assistance, and the 64 physical agencies spread across the country and the range of distribution agreements that already exist.

Jamie Anchústegui, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) International of Generali, said: “The initiative is incorporated in the new strategy of the Generali Group to develop innovative B2B2C distribution models by opening new customer contact channels.
