Bermuda-based insurer and reinsurer, Hamilton Insurance Group, Ltd. has announced the appointment of David Brown as the new Chair of the Board.
Brown, a long-standing member of the Hamilton Board of Directors, will succeed Bill Freda, who has served as Chair for the past six years and will continue to serve as a Non-Executive Director.
Having been with Hamilton since its inception nearly ten years ago, Brown expressed his privilege in taking on the role of Chair and looked forward to guiding the executive team alongside Freda and other esteemed Directors.
Freda added, “I have every confidence in David as Board Chair. As a highly respected and thoughtful insurance industry leader, he is the ideal person to move into this position. I remain committed to the long-term success of Hamilton and look forward to continuing my involvement as a member of its Board.”

Brown has been a Director on the Hamilton Board for nearly a decade and has previously served as the Interim Group CEO and Interim Bermuda CEO. Before joining Hamilton, Brown founded and served as the CEO of Flagstone Reinsurance Holdings Ltd. and held executive positions at Centre Solutions and EY.
Brown also serves as Deputy Chair of the Board of the Bermuda Stock Exchange and holds chair positions at Argus Group Holdings Limited and Bermuda Commercial Bank.
Freda, who has served on the Hamilton Board for nine years, brings a wealth of experience in risk management, international expansion, and client relationships to his role as a Non-Executive Director.
With a distinguished 40-year career at Deloitte, Freda held various senior positions, including Chair of the Risk Committee and the Audit Committee of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited’s Board of Directors. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Guardian Life Insurance Company and State Street Corporation.
