Corporate & Specialty insurer HDI Global has expanded its Asia–Pacific footprint with the opening of a representative office in Seoul, Republic of Korea.
This new presence in one of Asia’s major insurance markets allows HDI to enhance its relationships with local brokers, cedents, and clients.
The Seoul office will operate with a dedicated local expert team, working closely with HDI’s Hong Kong branch to support the insurer’s continued regional growth.
The office opening in Seoul forms part of HDI’s strategic approach to profitable growth, and it opens with a Strategic focus on segments where HDI Global holds a competitive edge: ESG liability, renewable energy, and infrastructure.
The opening aligns with HDI’s strategic pursuit of profitable growth. The new office will initially focus on segments where HDI Global has a competitive advantage, including infrastructure, renewable energy, and ESG liability.
Ki Hyung Jo, a seasoned local insurance expert with 25 years of market experience, has joined HDI Global as market lead for Korea.
The executive brings deep expertise in underwriting and product development and has strong connections with brokers, clients, and cedents.

The new Seoul office is designed as an agile set-up: a team on the ground manages broker, client, and cedent relationships directly in Korea, while core processes such as underwriting and claims continue to be handled from HDI Global Hong Kong.
Korea is a major P&C insurance market in Asia, valued at approximately EUR 80 billion. With this new office, Korean market participants will gain access to HDI’s extensive product range and specialized knowledge, with the gradual introduction of select specialty solutions.
These solutions include event-cancellation insurance for major K-pop events and surety bonds for Korean contractors working internationally.
