HDI Global, a commercial and specialty lines insurer, has announced the appointment of David Wilson to the newly created role of Global Head of Claims Energy & Power, effective 1st March 2026.
Based in London, Wilson will work in a global capacity across HDI’s Energy & Power Unit. He will report to Roman Felten, Global Head of Claims.
In his new role, he will support claims activities across all hubs and the wider Energy & Power portfolio worldwide, helping to further connect global expertise with local execution.
Wilson joins HDI Global from Allianz, where he spent more than a decade, most recently serving as Global Head of Energy Claims.
This hire builds on HDI’s recent appointment of Mark Mackay as Global Head of Energy & Power, succeeding Franz Adamczyk.
HDI Global’s Energy & Power Unit brings together cross-division expertise to enable streamlined and focused processes, serving the entire Energy & Power value chain through a single unit. The new global claims leadership role further strengthens this integrated approach.
Dr Barbara Klimaszewski-Blettner, Member of the HDI Global Executive Board responsible for Claims Management and the Germany region, said, “Claims performance is a core pillar of our value proposition. With David Wilson, we are adding senior international claims expertise in a newly created role, strengthening our ability to act as the preferred partner in transformation to our clients and broker partners worldwide by delivering consistent, high-quality claims service.”
Felten commented, “I am thrilled to welcome David to HDI. With him we have been able to attract an internationally renowned claims expert in the field of Energy & Power for our ambition to provide excellent claims service to our clients around the globe. This new global role reinforces our focus on seamless collaboration across hubs and functions.”
Mark Mackay, Global Head of Energy & Power, added, “The best outcomes for clients come from a fully connected approach. Therefore, our ambition is to bring underwriting and claims even closer together. David’s appointment strengthens our Energy & Power proposition across the value chain and supports our teams in delivering expert, responsive service worldwide.”
Wilson said, “I’m delighted to join HDI Global in this newly created global role and to help further strengthen our Energy & Power value proposition through excellent claims service. My focus will be on working closely with my claims and underwriting colleagues across all hubs. We are aiming to deliver consistent, technically strong and responsive support for clients and broker partners across conventional energy and power as well as the technologies driving the transition.”
