Law firm HFW has moved to bolster its Latin America insurance and reinsurance practice with the hire of Margo Black, a market veteran with over 40 years’ experience.
Black has led the Brazilian operations of some of the world’s top reinsurers.
Previous roles include President of Swiss Re Brazil, Brazil CEO of Willis Group, and Main Board Director at Allianz Seguros.
She also served as Latin America COO at JLT Group, and Managing Director of SCOR Brazil.
Black, who joins as a consultant, noted, “I am delighted to be joining such a prestigious global insurance and reinsurance practice, and am thrilled to be part of the team that will broaden HFW’s presence in the Brazilian Market and other Latin American markets.”
Chris Cardona, Global Head of Insurance and Reinsurance, added, “Margo really is one of the founding figures of the reinsurance market in Brazil and Latin America, with vast experience across broking and underwriting.
“She was on-the-ground in Brazil long before reinsurance opened up to international participants, and has been the driving force behind so many of the businesses that are now the market leaders, setting up Swiss Re Brazil, establishing JLT’s network throughout the region, and putting the SCOR name on the map in South America.
