Hippo Holdings Inc., a US-based insurer specialising in homeowners cover and data-led underwriting, has entered into a distribution arrangement with Progressive Insurance, enabling Hippo’s policies to be offered through Progressive’s existing sales infrastructure.

Through an agreement with Progressive Advantage Agency, Inc., Hippo’s homeowners insurance products have been integrated into HomeQuote Explorer.
These products are now accessible online and via Progressive’s in-house agents in eight states: Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas. The arrangement enables Hippo to utilise Progressive’s distribution scale, while giving customers the opportunity to combine policies where applicable.
The partnership aligns with Hippo’s efforts to strengthen underwriting performance through a measured, data-focused approach. It also pairs Progressive’s established distribution capabilities and customer service track record with Hippo’s targeted underwriting criteria, supporting access to a customer base consistent with its risk appetite.
More broadly, the agreement reflects Hippo’s intention to develop a balanced portfolio, maintain underwriting discipline, and extend distribution through carefully selected third-party relationships.
“Progressive’s strong focus on technology and serving the broad needs of its customers complement our proactive and tech-driven approach to home insurance,” commented Rick McCathron, President and CEO of Hippo. “Working with Progressive, Hippo can leverage data and technology to deliver more personalised coverage and a superior customer experience.”
“Across our property carriers, we prioritise our customers’ needs, from personalised coverage selection to seamless experience from quote to claim,” added Azadeh Hardiman, GM, Acquisition Experience Strategy at Progressive. “We’re proud to work with organisations like Hippo that make it easier for homeowners to find the protection they need and receive the service they expect at every step.”
