HIVE Underwriters, an independent specialty managing general agent (MGA), is strengthening its new property underwriting team with the appointment of Ed Wiley as Class Underwriter – Property Direct & Facultative (D&F).
Wiley brings over two decades of industry experience, with extensive technical expertise across international and UK property and a strong track record of managing complex portfolios and delivering strong financial performance.
The executive is joining HIVE from Sompo, where he most recently served as Head of International Property.
His career includes roles at Generali, RSA (now Intact Insurance), and Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty.
Wiley’s appointment follows the arrival of Richard Brown as Head of Property to establish HIVE’s global Property D&F business.
Working alongside Brown, Wiley will help expand the MGA’s portfolio by pairing seasoned underwriting expertise with HIVE’s data, analytics, and technological capabilities.
Brown, commented: “Ed brings considerable technical depth and a clear understanding of what it takes to build and manage a successful property portfolio. His experience will be invaluable as we develop our Property D&F business and establish a team that brokers can rely on for informed, responsive underwriting.
“We share a commitment to disciplined underwriting and lasting relationships. I’m delighted to welcome Ed to HIVE as we build the foundations for the portfolio’s long-term success.”
Wiley added: “Joining HIVE offers an exciting opportunity to help shape a new property business from the outset. The combination of specialist expertise, an entrepreneurial culture and investment in technology provides a compelling platform for building a strong portfolio.
“I look forward to working with Richard and the wider team, developing our broker relationships and bringing a thoughtful, consistent approach to complex property risks.”
