Andy Buddell has joined global insurance and reinsurance broking group Howden as Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Asia, based in Malaysia.
Buddell will oversee operational strategy as the group continues to scale and innovate across the region.
The executive brings extensive experience in the international insurance market, having led operations and strategic transformation across global markets.
“His deep understanding of the insurance sector and his track record in driving operational excellence make him a valuable addition to our regional leadership team,” a Howden spokesperson stated.
Adding: “Andy’s appointment is a key step in strengthening our regional foundation as we continue to scale and innovate across Asia.”
Buddell joined Howden following a seven-year tenure at French insurer AXA, where he most recently served as Director of Operations, International markets.
In this position he was responsible for strategy and governance across AXA International Markets’ technology and operations.
He had additional accountability as International Markets’ lead for the Operations workstream of the Group’s “Technology, Data & Operations” multi-year transformation programme.
He joined AXA in 2019 as Director of Operations, Asian Markets, where he managed tech governance and the “Move to Cloud” initiative.
Before AXA, he served as Consultant, Strategy & Business Planning at AmGeneral Insurance Berhad.
His career has also seen him hold roles at Dimension Data, AIG Global Services (Malaysia), CIMB Aviva Assurance – a former joint venture between Aviva and Malaysia’s CIMB Group , and Aviva.
