Global insurance group, Howden, has announced the expansion of its Driving Data technology and data teams with the appointment of Tommy Ahearne as Chief Data Officer.
This announcement takes place following the recent launch of Howden Drive, its telematics service that helps to lower motor insurance premiums for customers in the UK.
Jon Law, Managing Director, of Howden Driving Data, commented, “Tommy’s appointment reflects Howden Driving Data’s strategy to attract talented individuals to join our business, ensuring that we are in a position to provide telematics data services to support insurers and brokers in managing risk more effectively, and providing outstanding underwriting insight throughout the life of a policy.”
Ahearne is an insurance telematics market veteran with over ten years of experience. He initially started with Wunelli, now part of Lexis Nexis, and then served as a founder of SmartDriverClub. For the last four years, Ahearne has worked with US Software as a Service organisation Calamp, supporting their European businesses such as ‘Tracker’ in the UK.
Ahearne added, “I am really excited to be joining the technology and data team at Howden Driving Data. The application of connected car and telematics data can do so much to ensure correct risk pricing and policy management, so I am keen that we at Howden Driving Data supply those data services in an effective, innovative and cost-effective way to the market.”
In other news, Howden recently announced the appointment of Steven Crook as Divisional Director, Head of Claims, Aviation, as well as Wayne Hawkins as Divisional Director, Head of Airlines, Aviation. Both roles are based out of London and they will be reporting to Jason Humphreys, Global Head of Aviation.
