Howden Re, the global reinsurance, capital markets and strategic advisory arm of Howden Group, has appointed Carlos Garcia as Managing Director and Karina Lopez as Director, further strengthening its Latin America and Caribbean offering.
According to Howden Re, the appointments reflect the growing demand for sophisticated reinsurance solutions across the two regions.
Both executives are said to bring established relationships with multinational, Puerto Rican and Dominican clients, which they will reportedly continue to develop at Howden Re, while expanding the firm’s reach across a broader range of markets and cedents.
Howden Re said it already has an established presence in Brazil, Miami, and Peru, and that the new hires, who will join in May and be based in New Jersey, will further strengthen its ability to support clients across the wider region.
Carlos Garcia has 22 years of experience in retail insurance and reinsurance, including four years at Marsh before joining Guy Carpenter in 2008.
Karina Lopez also joins from Guy Carpenter and brings 14 years of experience in the Latin America and Caribbean treaty division.
