Howden Re strengthens cyber reinsurance team with five appointments amid rising global demand

Howden Re, part of Howden, has made five new appointments to its cyber reinsurance division as it continues to respond to rising demand from clients around the world.

According to Howden Re, the expansion supports the ongoing development of its cyber reinsurance capabilities, including establishing a dedicated presence in the United States to serve a growing client base. The company has also increased its actuarial resources, strengthening its existing modelling and threat intelligence functions.

Michael Giuliano has joined Howden Re as Director within the cyber reinsurance team. Based in New York, he will work with both the cyber and US casualty teams, contributing to the development of Howden Re’s cyber offering in the US market. He previously worked at McGill and Partners as a partner, focusing on cyber insurance and reinsurance portfolio solutions.

Ram Ramakrishnan has also been appointed Director at Howden Re, where he will lead the cyber actuarial function. In this position, he will further develop the firm’s actuarial capabilities and support its modelling and threat intelligence work. He joins Howden Re from Lockton Re, where he led analytics for the cyber reinsurance practice and contributed to casualty and aviation work.

Alongside these appointments, Howden Re has added three more team members. Lewis Birch joins as Associate Director from Aon and will focus on delivering reinsurance solutions in collaboration with clients and markets.

Georgia Surridge has been appointed Associate Director to oversee account management within the cyber team, having previously held a senior account management role within Aon’s Japan division. Haakon Pedersen joins Howden Re as an Associate in the analytics team from Chaucer, where he worked in exposure management across direct and reinsurance business.

Luke Foord-Kelcey, Managing Director and Global Head of Cyber at Howden Re, added: “These appointments are a direct response to the demand we are seeing from clients. Bringing Michael, Ram, Lewis, Georgia and Haakon into the team allows us to deepen that offering and service a rapidly expanding client base on both sides of the Atlantic.”
