Hussain to succeed Schaper as AIG Chief Risk Officer

AIG has appointed Turab Hussain as Executive Vice President and Chief Risk Officer, effective October 12, 2026. He will succeed current CRO Christopher Schaper, who intends to retire from the company at the end of the year.

aig-logoBased at AIG’s New York headquarters, Hussain will report to Eric Andersen, President & Chief Executive Officer, AIG and will serve on AIG’s Executive Leadership Team.

Hussain has served as AIG’s Global Chief Actuary since 2023, responsible for pricing, reserving and other actuarial activities across the company.

He initially joined AIG in 2021 as Chief Risk Officer for General Insurance, having joined  the company from Partner Re, where he served as Chief Risk & Actuarial Officer and Chief Insurance Risk Officer at The Hartford.

Earlier in his career, he held risk and actuarial roles at Arch Insurance, The Hartford, American Re, and Reliance Insurance.

Commenting on the appointment Andersen said: “Turab is an impressive leader with deep technical expertise, trusted judgment and a collaborative approach to advancing important priorities. His experience as AIG’s Global Chief Actuary and previously as Chief Risk Officer for General Insurance makes him exceptionally well qualified to serve as AIG’s Chief Risk Officer.

“I am confident that Turab’s deep understanding of our company positions him well to lead our enterprise risk organization with a continued focus on enhancing the way we assess, manage and respond to risk across AIG.”
