Ardonagh Group’s reinsurance broking arm, Inver Re, has appointed Alun Thomas in the new role of Global Head of Property Reinsurance, where he will report to Chris Bonard, CEO – Bermuda.
In the role, Thomas will take on responsibility for developing a new property reinsurance proposition with a base in Bermuda.
Thomas has been on the island for 15 years, and has 26 years of experience in both broking and underwriting, most recently serving at reinsurer MS Amlin.
Commenting on his new role, Thomas said: “What really attracted me to the role was the team of diverse and brilliant people already on board. I can’t wait to work with them – and I’m really excited at the opportunity to build something new with Inver Re, whilst being part of such an established presence in the marketplace through the Ardonagh Group.”
Bonard, added: “Our aim at Inver Re is to do things differently and breathe a breath of fresh air into reinsurance – and that’s exactly why we think we’re so lucky to have Alun join us. He knows the global property market inside out and brings an underwriting perspective that’s going to help us shape something new, relevant and dynamic for our end clients.”
Thomas’ appointment comes after the firm hired Aon’s Kurt Cripps as its new Global Head of Parametric in January.
