BRP Group, an independent insurance distribution company, has announced the launch of Juniper Re, its new reinsurance broking platform, to be led by former BMS Re Chief Property Officer Jeff Irvan.
Juniper Re was created to expand BRP Group’s breadth of capabilities and capitalise on a unique market opportunity, the company stated.
“Given the demanding (re)insurance market landscape and changing risk profiles, many of our clients and other stakeholders in the marketplace are looking for a diverse portfolio of solutions for their evolving needs,” said Trevor Baldwin, Chief Executive Officer of BRP Group.
He continued: “As BRP Group looks to bolster our ability to deliver holistic, innovative solutions to our clients and trading partners, we are confident that this is an ideal time to enter this growing segment.
“Juniper Re represents a natural complement to our retail brokerage business which rounds out our capabilities as a full-service broker in a manner we expect will contribute to BRP Group’s growth over time.”
Appointed President of Juniper Re, Irvan is a reinsurance broking veteran who brings with him more than 25 years of industry experience.
Prior to joining BRP Group, he served as Chief Property Officer for BMS Re for almost three years. Before that he was part of Willis Re – acquired by Gallagher in 2021 – for over two decades.
