Jensten Group, a UK insurance broking and financial services group, has agreed to acquire Glasgow-based broker Kelvin Smith Insurance, subject to regulatory approval.
According to Jensten Group, the transaction forms part of its ongoing strategy to expand its regional presence and further develop its operations across Scotland.
The acquisition will add 30 employees, an established Glasgow office and a portfolio of more than 3,000 clients to its business.
Kelvin Smith Insurance was established in 1982 and manages £22 million in gross written premium (GWP). The broker has built its business around commercial insurance, fleet risks and SME clients, while also offering specialist personal lines products, including insurance for high-net-worth individuals.
The deal also reinforces the company’s recently formed Scotland region, which has been developed through earlier acquisitions of Broker One and NC Stirling. Jensten Group said bringing the three businesses together will increase its regional capabilities by combining local knowledge, experienced teams and established client relationships under a single Scottish operation.
