White Bear Group, a re/insurance company that owns Blenheim Underwriting, a syndicate at Lloyd’s of London, and White Bear Managers, an managing general agent (MGA) offering tailored insurance solutions, has appointed John Symms as Group Head of Capital Solutions.
In this new position, Symms will be responsible for securing and enhancing re/insurance support for White Bear’s MGA operations and overseeing reinsurance activities at Blenheim Underwriting.
Most recently, Symms served as Head of Outwards Reinsurance at Fidelis MGU, a provider of specialty insurance and reinsurance products. He began his career in 1989 at English and American Insurance Company, later moving to Reliance National in 1993. In 2004, he joined Talbot Underwriting, where he worked as Outwards Reinsurance Manager until 2019.
His appointment follows the recent addition of David Barber, announced in May, as part of White Bear’s strategy to expand its underwriting divisions.
