Russell Higginbotham is leaving reinsurance giant Swiss Re after three decades with the company, with Jonathan Rake taking over as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Swiss Re Solutions, effective January 1st, 2025.
Rake joined Swiss Re from Zurich in 2016 as CEO Singapore, Head of South East Asia, and since July 2017 has held the role of CEO Asia Pacific at Swiss Re Corporate Solutions.
He’s now been promoted to lead Swiss Re Solutions, the division where the firm provides solutions to clients, including technology.
Higginbotham has served as CEO of the unit since April 2022, having previously served as CEO Reinsurance Asia, CEO Reinsurance EMEA, and Head of Life & Health Products, as well as numerous other roles in his 30 year tenure with Swiss Re.
“It has been a privilege to work for such an amazing company, working across all (re)insurance markets around the world, living in four different countries and meeting countless incredible colleagues and clients,” said Higginbotham. “I’ll look forward to working with my successor Jonathan Rake to ensure a smooth transition and then taking a bit of time out.”
As Rake takes on his new role, Robert Hunziker, Head Property & Specialty APAC, assumes his responsibilities in the interim, Swiss Re confirmed.
