MS Reinsurance (MS Re), a Switzerland-domiciled global reinsurer, has announced that its Group Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) Charles Goldie will retire, effective 1st April 2026, with Jörg Bruniecki, current CUO, Global Specialty Lines, succeeding him.

MS Reinsurance logoGoldie retires after serving as the company’s CUO for five years. He will continue to support the company as Senior Advisor to Robert Wiest, Chief Executive Officer of MS Re.

In his new role, Bruniecki will be responsible for the company’s global underwriting strategy. He will join the Leadership Team and Executive Board and report directly to the CEO.

He brings 30 years of reinsurance industry experience and joined MS Re in March 2022 as CUO for the company’s International business. In July 2025, he transitioned to the role of CUO, Global Specialty Lines, overseeing underwriting teams across all specialty lines, including Agriculture, Financial Risks, Cyber, Engineering and Complex Industrial and Corporate Risks.

Prior to MS Re, Bruniecki served as Head of Global Client and Broker Management at PartnerRe.

He also held various senior leadership roles at Munich Re, including Global Head of Aviation Reinsurance and Senior Executive Manager – CEE and South Europe.

“Charles has been a defining force in MS Re’s evolution,” said Wiest. “His vision, discipline, and leadership have helped to fundamentally reshape our underwriting strategy, strengthened our market position, and built the momentum that now propels us into our next chapter. Beyond that, Charles has been a trusted partner to me personally and a widely respected voice across our organisation. We are deeply grateful for his service and wish him every success in his retirement.”

Wiest added, “Jörg has demonstrated strategic clarity and a deep understanding of the value we create for our partners. His broad market experience and proven ability to translate strategy into results make him well suited to lead our underwriting organisation into its next phase.”

“It has been a privilege to help lead MS Re during a period of significant growth and change,” commented Goldie. “I am proud of what our underwriting teams have built, and the discipline, creativity, and client partnership that define who we are today. I am particularly pleased to see Jörg assume the CUO role.”

“I am honoured to build on the strong foundations established by Charles,” said Bruniecki. “In recent years, we have strengthened our underwriting capabilities and deepened our partnerships with clients and brokers. I look forward to working with teams across MS Re to continue delivering value for our partners.”

MS Re also announced the appointment of Louis de Segonzac, currently CUO, Americas, as its new Chief Technical Underwriting Officer, effective 1st April 2026. He will report to the CEO and become a member of the Leadership Team.

De Segonzac succeeds Marcus Pollak, who will step down from his role as Chief Technical Underwriting Officer.

De Segonzac has successfully led MS Re’s Latin American markets since 2014 and the broader Americas region since 2021, consistently driving underwriting performance. He will leverage his underwriting experience and technical insight to further modernise and advance the company’s technical underwriting capabilities.

Wiest said, “MS Re is moving from transformation to the next stage of our journey. These changes reflect our recognition of the contributions Charles and Marcus have made, and our confidence in the leaders who will build on the strong foundations we have established so far.”
