US-based insurer Kemper Corporation has sold Newins Insurance Agency Holdings, LLC, its retail property and casualty insurance agency portfolio, to Confie, a personal lines insurance distribution company.
Newins Insurance Agency Holdings’ distributions consist of captive agents and storefront locations. The operation was acquired by Kemper as part of the American Access Insurance Company transaction in 2021.
The acquisition includes 72 retail property and casualty locations across Illinois, Texas, Nevada, Arizona, and Indiana—markets where Confie already maintains a strong presence, thereby expanding its ability to serve customers at a local level.
The firm operates under the Illinois Vehicle, A-Abana, and Access Auto Insurance brands in a limited number of states. As per the terms of the acquisition, all employees associated with the business have transitioned to Confie as part of the transaction.
With this expansion, Confie continues to scale its multi-channel distribution model, which combines retail, call centre, and digital capabilities to deliver greater choice and accessibility for customers seeking insurance solutions tailored to their needs and budgets.
Additionally, the acquisition reinforces Confie’s commitment to disciplined growth through strategic partnerships and acquisitions, further solidifying its position in personal lines insurance distribution.
C. Thomas Evans, Jr., Interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Kemper Corporation, commented, “This transaction is consistent with our focus on improving performance in our core operations. It allows us to further concentrate on our independent agent distribution channel for specialty auto and direct our resources toward areas where we see the greatest opportunity for long-term value. We have a strong relationship with Confie and believe they are well-positioned to support the continued growth of the Newins operations.”
Cesar Soriano, CEO, Confie, added, “This acquisition strengthens our position in key markets and allows us to further scale how we serve customers. Kemper will remain a valued carrier partner as we continue to support customers across these markets.”
Chad Maxwell, Executive Vice President of Mergers & Acquisitions at Confie, concluded, “This was a highly strategic acquisition that expands our geographic footprint while adding strong, established brands in key markets. The Newins portfolio complements our existing platform and positions us for continued growth through both organic expansion and future acquisitions.”
