Lancashire appoints Andrew McKee CEO of Cathedral Underwriting

Lancashire Holdings, the Bermuda and London specialty insurance and reinsurance company has, announced the appointment of Andrew McKee (previously CEO of MS Amlin at Lloyd’s) as the new CEO of its Cathedral Underwriting business at Lloyd’s of London.

With effect from 26th June 2017, and subject to regulatory approvals and Lloyd’s say so, McKee will take over the reigns at Cathedral, bringing a senior market face to run the important Lloyd’s business Lancashire acquired a few years back.

He will lead that business and be a welcome addition to Lancashire’s executive management team. I would also like to thank Marion for holding the reins during the period of transition.” 

Cathedral at Lloyd’s underwrites a range of reinsurance lines, largely in the specialty arena, from aviation, to non-marine property risks, cargo & specie, direct & facultative, energy, terrorism and political violence, through its syndicates 2010 and 3010.

McKee has over 30 years’ experience in the insurance industry. He began as a graduate trainee property underwriter for Sun Alliance in Bristol, after which he spent 18 years at Chubb Insurance in various senior underwriting positions.

In 2009, he stepped up to his first Chief Executive Officer role with MSIG at Lloyd’s, the underwriting agency in charge of Lloyd’s Syndicate 3210 and specialising in corporate, commercial and specialty insurance. Most recently, McKee held the role of CEO of MS Amlin’s Lloyd’s business.

Marion Madden will continue in her role as interim Managing Director of Cathedral until McKee comes on-board in July.
