Liberty completes APAC licence consolidation and brand simplification

Liberty International Insurance, part of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, has announced the completion of its Asia Pacific licence consolidation and the simplification of its brand to “Liberty” across key markets in the region.

This transformation represents a major milestone for the company’s APAC operations. By merging its retail and commercial underwriting units in Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and China, Liberty now operates as a single licensed identity in each jurisdiction.

While the business will trade under the unified “Liberty” brand in Singapore, Hong Kong, and Australia, it will retain the existing brand names in Malaysia, India, and China.

The completion of the Hong Kong licence consolidation unifies the Liberty Insurance and Liberty Specialty Markets operations under a single insurance licence in Hong Kong.

Liberty’s recent operational updates across Asia include:

  • Singapore: Retail and commercial operations are now unified under the name Liberty Pte Limited.
  • Malaysia: All general insurance business has been streamlined into a single entity, Liberty General Insurance Berhad.
  • China: Both renewal and new commercial re/insurance transactions are now conducted through Liberty Insurance.

Adding: “Moving to the Liberty brand is also fundamental to simplifying the way we present to our agents, broker partners and clients. This is the same branding our Liberty Mutual parent team use in much of their TV advertising and marketing in the USA. We’re streamlining our market presence in Asia and delivering real benefits to our partners – including access to a broader product range, a bigger team with specialised expertise, and efficient service.”

Operating as “one Liberty” locally allows the company to offer a comprehensive range of general insurance products across the region, including personal, commercial, and tailored solutions for major projects, corporate, and government clients.

This brand simplification aims to provide a more seamless experience for regional customers and partners.
