Liberty Mutual Reinsurance (LM Re), the reinsurance division of Liberty Mutual, has appointed John Nicholls as Casualty Underwriting Manager for Australia and New Zealand (ANZ).
Nicholls joins LM Re from the Sydney office of Liberty Specialty Markets in an internal transfer, reflecting the organisation’s integrated operating model across its global businesses.
This appointment underscores LM Re’s focus on the Australian and New Zealand markets. Strengthening local underwriting leadership and expertise remains central to the company’s strategy to enhance capability and support sustainable growth across the region.
In his new role, Nicholls will lead the ANZ Casualty portfolio and oversee delivery of LM Re’s casualty offering to brokers and clients. His responsibilities align with the company’s objective of maintaining strong local underwriting expertise across its key international reinsurance markets.
Nicholls brings more than 18 years of casualty underwriting experience and over 30 years of broader industry experience. He has been involved in a wide range of complex and technical placements, contributing significant technical knowledge and a strong understanding of the value of long-term broker and client relationships.
