Liberty Specialty Markets promotes Beechey in Global Financial Risks

Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM), the London underwriting centre of Liberty Mutual Insurance, has promoted Andrew Beechey to a new role of Head of Underwriting and Strategic Development for its Global Financial Risks business.

Andrew Beechey, Liberty Specialty MarketsBeechey is currently based in Singapore for LSM, as Head of Global Financial Risks for the Asia Pacific region. He will return to London on 1st December to take up this new global role, reporting to Peter Sprent, Head of Global Financial Risks.

Peter Sprent, commented, “In this era of relatively volatile and unpredictable economic conditions, it’s clear there is significant demand for credit and political risk insurance from organisations that are active in the emerging and developed markets. Our GFR book has performed extremely well over the last few years and we’ve been able to establish ourselves as a major player in the global market.

“Andrew has done a fantastic job setting up GFR in Singapore and growing that business into a market leading position over the last few years. His promotion and move to London come as part of the overall expansion of our GFR team and the continued growth in our global business.

“Andrew’s exceptional skills and leadership qualities are well suited to this new global role and provides us with greater coordination of our underwriting capabilities around the world”.

Beechey joined LSM in 2014 from Zurich where he had spent nine years working his way up to become its deputy head of the London credit and political risk team. He previously spent 10 years in the credit and political risk division of broker Marsh, based in both the U.S. and UK.

LSM said it will announce a new appointment for the Asia Pacific region to replace Beechey soon.
