Lloyd’s, the global insurance and reinsurance marketplace, appointed Rebekah Clement to the newly created role of Corporate Affairs Director, effective immediately.

In this position, Clement will report directly to Lloyd’s CEO, John Neal. The establishment of a dedicated Corporate Affairs function aims to consolidate Lloyd’s capabilities across government policy, external stakeholder engagement, corporate communications, media relations, and thought leadership.

The primary objective of this new function is to enhance stakeholder engagement and develop solutions that showcase Lloyd’s value proposition and purpose.

It will focus on addressing strategic issues of utmost importance, including culture, climate, and cross-sector initiatives.

With over 20 years of experience in corporate affairs, government policy, brand reputation, and media and communications, Clement brings a wealth of expertise to her new role.

Clement has held several senior positions in both the public and private sectors, notably in New Zealand’s Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet. Most recently, she played a pivotal role in establishing and leading Lloyd’s sustainability framework and initiatives.

As a member of Lloyd’s ESG Committee of Council, Clement will continue to spearhead the priorities and focus of cross-sector initiatives such as the Sustainable Markets Initiative Insurance Task Force.

Lloyd’s CEO, John Neal, expressed his confidence in Clement’s appointment, stating, “Our new Corporate Affairs team will help Lloyd’s build stronger relationships with all our stakeholders so we can provide more effective leadership on the issues that matter, from climate transition to the digital revolution.”

Neal emphasised that Clement’s extensive experience, combined with her team’s deep expertise, will help refine Lloyd’s voice as they continue driving the market’s performance, digitalisation, purpose, and cultural goals.

In a separate move, Jo Scott, who has been leading Lloyd’s Marketing & Communications function since 2016, including her role as Chief Marketing & Communications Officer and member of Lloyd’s Executive Committee, will be assuming a new position as the head of the Lloyd’s of London Foundation.
