Mandarin Re, a Malaysia-based reinsurance company, has promoted Andrés Obando as Head of Underwriting.
Obando joined the reinsurer in 2023 as an Underwriter and has since held increasingly senior roles, including serving as Senior Underwriter and Head of Underwriting Americas and African Division.
Prior to this, he served as the Commercial Manager of Reinsurance for International Traders Insurance Co., Ltd., Director at Seguros Beta, and as Commercial Manager for Hotel Boutique La Calzada del Santo.
Previously, Obando has spent nearly a decade at Munich Re in roles including Facultative Property Underwriter, Property Underwriter, and Business Analyst.
Mandarin Re explained that throughout his time with the company, Obando has demonstrated strong technical expertise, sound underwriting judgment, and a clear commitment to portfolio quality and long-term value for our partners.
