The Board of Directors of Mapfre Re, the global reinsurance unit of Mapfre Group, has approved the appointment of Fernando Utrilla Agüero as Chief Financial Officer (CFO), succeeding Daniel Quermia.
Agüero’s appointment is part of the succession process following Quermia’s upcoming retirement, after nearly 40 years with Mapfre Re.
Agüero joined Mapfre Re in May 1994 and has since held various positions of responsibility. Most recently, he served as Deputy CFO since July 2025. Before that, he was Assistant General Manager of MAPFRE Group Business at Mapfre Re.
Mapfre Re noted that this appointment strengthens its financial structure and ensures continuity in its roadmap, leveraging Agüero’s knowledge of the business and his long career within the Group.
