U.S. domiciled commercial insurer CNA has announced the appointment of Mark James as Senior Vice President (SVP), Global Reinsurance, reporting to Doug Worman, Executive Vice President (EVP) and Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO), CNA.
James brings more than 15 years of reinsurance industry experience to the role, and will be responsible for the company’s reinsurance strategies and purchasing, globally.
He joins CNA from AIG, where he was most recently Deputy Ceded Reinsurance Officer, responsible for providing strategic guidance to the reinsurance unit for P&C treaties.
Prior to AIG, James spent 14 years with Chubb, which included being the company’s SVP, Worldwide Reinsurance and Risk Manager. Most recently at Chubb, he was responsible for international reinsurance placements, catastrophe bond issuance, collateralised reinsurance, and risk management.
Worman commented on the appointment: “Mark’s extensive reinsurance knowledge and expertise will provide us the requisite leadership to facilitate the underwriting objectives for each of our business units and we are pleased to have him join us.”
