Markel, the insurance operation of Markel Group Inc., a global speciality insurer providing insurance, reinsurance and investment services, has announced the appointment of Amy Martin as Senior Claims Adjuster – Warranty & Indemnity (W&I) within Markel International, the division responsible for its international operations.
Based in London, Martin will oversee complex, high-value claims across Markel International’s Transactional Liability portfolio, including warranty and indemnity, contingent risk and tax.
According to the company, she will work closely with its underwriting, actuarial and reinsurance teams, alongside managing agents, coverholders and service partners across multiple jurisdictions, helping to strengthen the insurer’s coordinated claims service for brokers and clients operating in increasingly complex transaction environments.
Martin will also contribute to the development of its Claims Value Proposition by supporting clients and brokers throughout the lifecycle of a claim. Drawing on claims insights, she will help inform contract wording, coverage development and renewal strategy, while supporting greater transparency and responsiveness across the claims process. The company added that she will work closely with brokers and partners to promote consistency and clarity in claims handling.
Martin will report to Rachel Nestor, Claims Manager – Management and Transactional Liability, Cyber and Technology, Media & Telecommunications (TMT) at Markel International.
Jonathan Pestell, Head of Claims for Professional & Financial Risks & Cyber at Markel International, added: “As transactional risk becomes more complex and interconnected, clients and brokers increasingly look for clarity, consistency and expertise in the claims process. Amy’s strong legal background and hands-on experience across complex financial lines claims will enable us to deliver exactly that.
“Her ability to interpret coverage, challenge assumptions and work collaboratively with teams will further enhance the service and support we provide to brokers and clients.”
Martin brings more than 10 years of experience across insurance claims and legal advisory roles in both private practice and in-house positions.
Most recently, she served as a Senior Claims Adjuster at Chubb, where she managed complex UK and international professional indemnity claims. A qualified solicitor, she has extensive experience handling multi-jurisdictional claims across primary and excess layers and has established strong relationships across the London insurance market.
