Markel Intl. adds Jan Pagan to its renewable energy team

Markel International, a subsidiary of Markel Corporation, has announced that it has appointed Jan Pagan as a specialist risk control engineer within its renewable energy team.

Markel LogoIn the role, Pagan will be based at Markel’s London office, reporting to Tom Baker, Head of renewable energy at Markel International.

The role will see Pagan work alongside Markel’s underwriting and claims teams to provide risk mitigation advice and engineering services to the company’s growing roster of global renewable energy clients.

Overall, Pagan brings more than 10 years of experience within the renewable energy industry towards his new role.

He joins Markel from Matthews Daniel – a global leader in specialist pre and post-risk services – where he led the firm’s renewable energy services team and provided consulting and adjusting services to clients across the sector.

Additionally, Pagan also spent four years working at EDF Energy as an on and offshore wind mechanical engineer. During his tenure at EDF, Pagan focused on implementing operation and maintenance procedures, as well as making use of new technology to reduce operational costs.

Addressing Pagan’s appointment, Baker said: “Helping our clients navigate the risks and rewards of the energy transition is a huge privilege and responsibility, and so I’m delighted to welcome Jan to our team. His significant industry experience will improve our ability to provide clients an enhanced value proposition, with specialist risk mitigation advice, reiterating our leadership capabilities in the renewables market.
