Marsh, an insurance and reinsurance broker and risk advisor, has announced the launch of Stratus, a property insurance exchange for operational digital infrastructure risks, including data centres and associated critical support systems.

Stratus will provide access to up to $10 billion in property insurance capacity on a single-placement basis through the global property risk transfer market for the global exposures of US-domiciled companies.

Designed as an insurance exchange, 30 traditional and alternative capital provider participants will evaluate each risk individually to determine the most appropriate support for each placement.

This structured trading environment allows capital providers to effectively assess, quantify, and diversify risk while managing aggregation issues during the operational phase.

Leveraging Marsh’s advanced data and analytics and advisory services, Stratus will help clients efficiently procure customised property coverage for their unique needs as they transition their digital infrastructure assets into operation.

Joe Macejak, US Property Digital Infrastructure Leader, Marsh Risk, said: “As large digital infrastructure projects shift from construction to operation, the associated risks become larger and more complex, driven by multi-billion-dollar campuses, self-generating power systems, and emerging technologies used in processing units and critical equipment.

“By combining Marsh’s engineering data and analytics, risk consulting capabilities, and access to the global re/insurance and capital markets, Stratus is designed to improve the quality and efficiency of operational digital infrastructure property placements and help clients secure the protection they need to support growth at scale.”

Stratus has been designed to extend Marsh’s construction-phase insurance facility, Nimbus – its large-scale data centre construction insurance facility launched in June 2025 -, to support digital infrastructure assets during operations.

Marsh added significant capacity to Nimbus back in June 2026, which now offers limits of up to $2.7 billion, including delay in start-up and business interruption coverage, for major projects across the UK, US, Canada, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.

Clients can now use Stratus and Nimbus together or separately, adding coverages as needs evolve, Marsh explained.

Initially focused on property insurance, it is planned for Stratus to expand into other insurance lines, including inland marine, cyber, and casualty, ultimately creating a single point of access for operational digital infrastructure clients.
