mea, an AI-native technology company built specifically for the global insurance and reinsurance industry, has announced the appointment of Fernando Villar as Managing Director, EMEA Strategic Accounts.
In his new role, Villar will lead senior client engagement and strategic account development across insurers, reinsurers, brokers and MGAs.
He will focus on identifying high-value workflow and operating model opportunities, shaping the business case, and translating mea’s agentic AI capabilities into measurable operational and commercial outcomes, including faster processing, improved data quality, increased productivity, stronger controls and scalable growth.
Villar brings 30 years of experience across insurance and reinsurance, with expertise spanning senior client engagement, commercial origination, operations and AI adoption.
Previously, he spent more than two decades at Swiss Re in various senior leadership roles. Most recently, he served as Chief Operating Officer, Global Clients & Solutions.
mea said Villar’s expertise in connecting operational realities with measurable outcomes through technology makes him a strong addition to the team.
In a recent LinkedIn post, Villar said, “After many years across insurance and reinsurance, I have seen first-hand how much value remains locked within business complexity. What attracted me to mea is its practical focus: applying insurance-specific agentic AI to transform unstructured information into structured data, enable faster and more efficient workflows, support better decisions and deliver measurable commercial and operational value.
“I look forward to working with insurers, reinsurers, brokers and MGAs across EMEA, alongside my new colleagues, to help move AI from experimentation to scaled business value.”
