Newlyn comes to Miller from JM Glendinning, where he reportedly built the firm’s Community Risk Solutions business as Managing Director.

Before JM Glendinning, Newlyn was the National Housing Manager at Zurich Municipal, where he led its national social housing sales and account management team.

Pauline Goreham, Head of UK Construction at Miller, and to whom Newlyn will report, commented, “Gary’s extensive experience working with some of the largest social housing providers in the UK will be a real asset to the team as we continue to build out our proposition in this space.

“The social housing sector has a critical role to play in solving the housing crisis, and there is a huge opportunity to provide additional risk and insurance support that can further enable this.

“With Gary on board, I look forward to us further challenging the current status quo, raising standards, and strengthening our offering to the benefit of the sector, insurers and our clients.”

Newlyn himself said, “The opportunity to utilise my experience at Miller and support the sector I have worked in for nearly 15 years was one I could not pass up.

“Miller has the insurance market relationships and capability to create a true challenger in the industry and offer real value in an area that our economy and country rely on.

“The historic conventions of procuring and arranging insurance, coupled with tricky market conditions, have traditionally constrained the insurance solutions which these organisations receive.

“Being able to strengthen the foundations Miller has already built in the sector and add greater value is hugely exciting.”
