Mosaic hires Alleghany’s Bakhshi as CFO

Senior financial services executive Reeva Bakhshi has joined the leadership team of Mosaic Insurance, as part of the strategic development of the speciality insurer’s corporate division.

Bakhshi takes on the role of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) from Aizaz Haque, who takes over the new position of Capital Solutions Officer (CSO), both of these roles will be based in New York.

Co-CEO Mitch Blaser commented on both of the hires, “We are excited to have Reeva join us as we embark on our next phase of growth. She brings a distinguished track record in the insurance industry to oversee all our financial activities. Haque’s new role sees him address ways we can build alternative capital strategies to support our development and leverage the platform we’ve built.”

Hiring Bakhshi and Haque to focus on the respective areas is part of Mosaic’s plan to deliver and create innovative capital solutions for their business.

Bakhshi is a market veteran with more than 25 years of experience in financial services, including international re/insurance markets. Bakshi’s role is to lead Mosaic’s finance organisation, directing financial strategy.

Bakhshi commented, “I am excited to be working with such an entrepreneurial and experienced team, and I’m enthused by the opportunity to drive Mosaic’s development to deliver value to our stakeholders.”

Bakhshi in the past has served as SVP, treasurer and deputy CFO at Alleghany Corporation, and is a board member of TransRe, RSUI and CapSpecialty. Before Alleghany, she was CFO at Aspen Insurance and CFO at Hiscox at a number of operations, including Hiscox Re and ILS, Europe, and Special Risks.

Qualified as a chartered accountant, she began her career at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Haque on the other hand is a founding member of the company. He also has over 20 years of investment banking experience. He will oversee alternative capital strategies to optimize capital provision for the company.

Haque mentioned, “Mosaic has grown rapidly and entered a new phase where capital planning and risk finance become more significant. We welcome Reeva, and I look forward to focusing on taking our business to the next level.”
